Yes. You must have a referral to have a Forward Scan. If needed, we can arrange a referral from one of our Forward doctors at no cost to you. It may seem like an unnecessary requirement, but it exists to look after you in the event there is a serious medical finding. Our doctors can additionally assist you in understanding and contextualizing the findings in your Forward Scan report.

You may be able to get a Forward Scan if you have the following: an implantable infusion pump, a cochlear implant, a prosthetic implant, an IUD, a neurostimulator, or an intracranial aneurysm clip. We will ask you specifics during your health history review.

Unfortunately, you are not able to get a Forward scan if you: have a pacemaker, are or think you are pregnant, under the age of 18.

No. Our Forward Scans are designed completely without IV-contrast.

No. All MRIs are radiation-free.

A Forward MRI is a noninvasive, injection-free, and radiation free procedure. The scanner is air-conditioned, well-lit, and you will always be in contact with an MRI technologist through a two-way intercom. During the scan, coils will be placed from your head to your legs. The MRI scanner produces thumping and humming noises as it is acquiring the images. We will offer you some headphones or earplugs to reduce the noise. You can also choose to listen to music to help pass the time or watch your favorite show. It is important to remain still when images are being acquired.

Yes. Please fast for 4 hours before your Scan. You can drink water, tea or black coffee before your Scan. We will have water and a snack ready for you when you finish.

Your medical history, which includes your current and past medical conditions, medications, drug allergies, and surgeries, helps provide context into your overall health. Forward uses your medical history along with your lab results, vitals and other health data to provide the most personalized care possible for you.

The more accurately you can answer, the better care we can provide to you. This is why it is important that you are honest and answer the questions to the best of your ability.

All of the data from your Scan will be available on the interactive Forward app. We can also make the data available in an easy to share PDF.

Yes. You will review the results of your Scan with a Forward doctor after all of the results have been analyzed. Before you leave the Forward clinic on the day of your Scan, we will work with you to schedule your review.

Yes. Forward can provide referrals to top specialists and we can work with your insurance (if you have health insurance) to find in-network providers.

Not at this time. Preventative MRI scans are not yet covered by insurers.

Eligible HSA and FSA plans may be used to pay for Forward Scan. Ultimately, it's up to your FSA or HSA provider to determine whether Forward's Scan can be paid with your FSA/HSA funds. We're happy to provide documentation for you to submit to your FSA or HSA provider.
